I am delighted to welcome you to the inaugural Yale Model United Nations Australia! My name is Pranaya Balaji, and I am honoured to serve as Secretary-General for the first iteration of our conference, taking place from January 13th to January 15th, 2027, in Sydney, Australia.

YMUN Australia serves as a forum for intellectually engaging, collaborative discourse on critical international issues. A stage for the policymakers and leaders of tomorrow, our conference empowers students to engage thoughtfully, ambitiously, and open-mindedly with modern global challenges.

Built on a vision of Innovation and Progress, our conference embraces the importance of creative, inventive thinking in navigating our increasingly complex world. Over the course of three days, delegates will be challenged to debate nuanced geopolitical topics, balance diverse and often conflicting perspectives, and craft strategic resolutions while upholding the spirit of diplomatic collaboration.

Our team of twelve Yale students is working tirelessly to prioritise the delegate experience above all, whether that be through novel, expansive committee offerings or panels, workshops, and ever-interactive out-of-committee programming. Providing a holistic, enriching conference experience is at the heart of our mission. Ultimately, it is our hope that delegates leave YMUN Australia not only with an invigorated passion for the realm of international relations, but also with the passionate curiosity, public speaking skills, and forward-looking approaches that the world demands from our next generation of leaders.

It seems nearly impossible to contain our excitement for this conference, and we cannot wait to meet each and every one of you in January. On behalf of myself and our entire team, welcome to Yale Model United Nations Australia.

To our shared journey ahead,

Pranaya Balaji
